Bitter Melon Pancakes (theplas)

Ingredients

1 cup whole wheat flour
1/4 cup bajra (black millet) flour
1/2 cup finely chopped bitter gourd (karela)
1/2 tsp grated garlic
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp chilli powder
1 tsp coriander powder
1 tbsp chopped cilantro
salt to taste

Other ingredients
2 tsp ghee to brush the pancakes (theplas)

Method

  1. Combine all the ingredients and knead into a firm dough using enough water and knead well.
  2. Divide the dough into 10 equal parts and roll each portion into a circle of approx. 125 mm. (5″) diameter.
  3. Cook each thepla on a non-stick pan till both sides are golden brown.
  4. Brush each thepla with a little ghee and serve hot.

    • Where are you getting your parathas? The vegetables are cooked because they are cut so small.

      Are you making them yourself? How thick are they?This will make them harder or easier to digest as well as make them more or less cooked.
